I am a never-was-an-athlete turned runner who once upon a time was terrified when other people, even non-runners, would ask “what’s your pace?” If I told them the truth, they would surely label me as not a real runner (don’t worry, I’ll have a whole post dedicated to that later). I wanted to create a space where I could be real about my running journey, running slowly with confidence, and maybe someone will be inspired through my stories to do the thing they believe they cannot do – whether that’s running, or going for a promotion, or starting a business.
Running has taught me a lot and it turns out that most of the things I have learned in running also apply to leadership (being a CEO and elected official) and to life (my marriage, my kids, my friendships) - whether that’s learning how to eat the humble pie, adapt my strategy, breathe, or just flat out knowing I can do hard things.
I’ll be tackling a lot of topics here – let’s be honest, most of it will be about running – so if that’s not your jam, cool, I get it. But if it is, or you are practicing curiosity (yes, I’ll have a post about that at some point, too), I hope you enjoy! And remember, it is okay to go slow to go fast.
Running, to me, is about intent, and it's about action. It's not about "time".
